Meet the Photographer

Hello! My name is Michelle and I’ve been telling stories through photos professionally for over ten years, after completing a Bachelor of Photography in 2012 at the Queensland College of Art (Griffith University).

“To take a photograph is to participate in another person’s (or thing’s) mortality, vulnerability, mutability… All photographs testify to time’s relentless melt.” -Susan Sontag

All we have for living is this moment; the here and now. My passion is to document people as they are- the beauty & the mess, and all that lies between them in the ‘melt’.

I love the way the world looks at sunrise/sunset and how the sun feels on the skin, like a warm cup of tea in your hands. Meeting people and hearing their stories lights my heart up, not only their successes but their vulnerabilities, the things we share in our human experience.

I love looking at the old portraits of my family, now on display at my parent's house. The warmth of that time, and innocence- the pink & blue hue of the tulle skirt my 6-year-old self was wearing. Time has marched on since that day, but those particular photos are a marker in our family’s story, they conjure memories of not just that specific day, but memories around it. I am thankful they exist- they’re priceless.

The outcome of a photo shoot is a collaboration between you & me. It’s a mixture of our combined passion & ideas.

I would love to meet you and chat about how I can create something wonderful for you!

MY WORK

01 warm
As a photographer, I am honoured to be invited into personal and intimate spaces. and Reflecting on these vulnerable moments warmly and beautifully is what underpins my work. it brings Me great joy to work with people and share this gift with them.

02 FUN
photoshoots don’t have to be awkward. I ensure rapport and connection are developed from the beginning of first contact so that when it’s time for your shoot, you can relax, feel comfortable and have fun!

03 Peaceful
Things don’t always go to plan and that’s ok. during shoots, I stay present and open-minded whilst responding to what happens in front of my camera, keeping a peaceful composure, I give prompts when needed and most of all, am patient if your little ones are struggling.

04 Authentic
With a major in photojournalism, it’s my passion to document. whatever your journey, you are worth celebrating. I take care to make photos that tell your story authentically.
